Game-of-the-Month Club – 2018 Year-End Wrap-Up – S2, E6

Hi, friends! Welcome to our end-of-the-year season finale where we chat about some of the games that we’ve been playing that we DIDN’T feature in our regular Game-of-the-Month Club. We cover a lot of ground in this one, so give it a listen to find out who’s been trying to sell meat from the graveyard, who’s been relaxing with hidden-object games, who’s been hunting monsters all over the planet, who’s been selling matches in idle clickers, and who thinks our governments should be run by video game simulations!

Make sure you stick around to the end for some BIG announcements about our new Patreon page and Discord channel!

Season 3 News & January 2019 GOTM Game: Return of the Obra Dinn

To kick off a new year and a new season, we are excited to announce some new developments for the Game of the Month Club for Season 3 in 2019!

Happy New Year, everyone! Over the last year, we’ve played and discussed 10 games and it’s been a blast. We really enjoy making this podcast so we want to expand it with a few new shiny things.

Patreon – We now have a Patreon where you can support the podcast with small monthly donations. If you do, you can and get cool perks in return like early access to new episodes, polls about our content, blooper reels, and more! If we reach $100 monthly we will also be giving away a copy of each month’s game in a drawing. This will help us cover the expenses of the podcast so that we can do even more.

This also means that we will be sticking to a more regular schedule for the new year. Patreon supporters will get new episodes on the 1st of every month (starting with s3 e1 on February 1st), and episodes will be released for everyone on the 8th.

Discord Community – We want to hear from listeners and fans, so we set up a Discord server for Little Rock Games. There, you can hang out and discuss our games, Game-of-the-Month picks, and more. Feel free to join if you want to chat with us and figure out what we are up to.

Twitch Streaming – We know it can be hard to keep up with a new game every month for the podcast, so we are going to start streaming some of the games we play on Twitch. That way you can follow along and get our freshest takes on the game. This is a great way to experience the games we play if you can’t pick up each game every month.

We are also introducing a Game-of-the-Season, which we will play over the next six months and discuss in our Season 3 finale. There are some games that are difficult to fully experience in one month, and so this will allow us to give bigger games the time they deserve. Our first Game-of-the-Season is God of War, which is available only on PS4. Just as with our monthly games, we’d love for you to play along with us (if you haven’t already) and send us your thoughts for the episode that we will record at the end of June!

Finally, for our first episode of Season 3, Brad chose Return of the Obra Dinn by Papers Please creator Lucas Pope. Join us in exploring the mystery of the abandoned merchant ship, Obra Dinn. This episode will be our first Patreon supported episode, so subscribe to get those new perks!

Return of the Obra Dinn is available now on Steam and a demo can be found on Itch.io.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2019, and we hope you’ll join us!

Hello Game-of-the-Month Club fans, and welcome to this episode of our podcast! For the month of November, Tanner picked Tacoma from Fulbright studios. There are TONS of spoilers in this podcast, so if you haven’t played Tacoma yet, give it a try, then come back and give us a listen, just so we’re all on the same happy page. And make sure to add your comments below to keep the conversation going!

Hover Game Banner

Hello Game-of-the-Month Club fans, and welcome to the October 2018 episode of our podcast! Last month, Robbie picked Hover from developers Midgar Studio, published by Playdius and Plug In Digital. We talk about all sorts of stuff like the limits of multiplayer experience, the vertigo response to fast FPS games, how older games inspire game designers to create something new as a tribute to the games they love, and a whole lot more. Give it a listen here or on your favorite podcast service.

There aren’t too many spoilers in this podcast, BUT if you haven’t played Hover yet, give a try, then come back and give us a listen, just so we’re all on the same happy page. And make sure to add your comments below to keep the conversation going!

Game-of-the-Month Club – Pyre – S2, E3

September has come and gone like a quirky caravan of exiles drifting across a brilliantly colored backdrop. For the September episode of our Game of the Month Club podcast, we played Pyre from Supergiant Games. Olivia picked this one-of-a-kind “action role-playing sports video game.” Listen in to find out who loved the fast-paced sports aspect of the game, who couldn’t stop talking about the original story setting and artwork, and who had to get their blood pressure checked from all the pyre-scorching, orb-running action.

As always, THERE ARE TONS OF SPOILERS IN THIS PODCAST! So if you haven’t played Pyre yet, give a try, then come back and give us a listen. And make sure to add your comments below to keep the conversation going!
